Forum format: Which do you prefer -- threaded or simplified?

@wendell

I'm referring to the page-wide zig-zagging that allowed you to follow who was commenting at some point anywhere in the thread.  There might be eight comments since I had last checked in but they could be at eight vastly different locations in the thread.  So, I would pull up the thread in its entirety and then scroll down carefully searching for each new post, wherever it was.

@wendell

My timezone is set.  I'm thinking it's a chrome thing on my phone.

@bobwesterman

It could be a browser caching thing. After you changed your timezone, you might have to clear your browser's cache. Maybe. 😉

I often ignore threads with multiple pages as following the order of comments is difficult. The data is there but I can't see well enough to read it (can't type for crap either, different post). Simplified would be great if you can still easily specify who you are responding to..

@thebionicman

Indeed, in simplified format you would still be able to reply just as I have done here, with a reference to the person you are replying to.

You can also quote, if you want to clarify exactly what you are replying to.

So, essentially, all of the normal functionality is there except for the nested replies. Everything is just displayed in order of date without any other replies being inserted at various places throughout the threads.

When (if) we return to the simplified approach (which I think I will prefer), will it be somehow clear when a new reply at the bottom of the list is actually responding to a post further up the list?

@brad-ott

Yes. You will still be able to reply and it will appear like this reply, just not nested as it is here.

@wendell which I suppose I can truly test later after someone else repliesƒ??thanks pal.  Too bad the money you earn with your efforts will never match the effort you put in.  Hopefully the love and appreciation comes closer.

@wendell Roger that.  Excellent.
