Somebody should proofread that ad... "
One of the top schools for the profession. I went to a PSU Affiliate as well and thought about switching to the Wilkes-Barre program as I heard it was "more" hands on experience then the class room sit downs.
What Affiliate ?
A PSU campus or do you mean Penn Tech in Williamsport?
Two of my brothers went to Penn State Allentown when it was in the cigar factory. One went on to Capitol Campus, now Penn State Harrisburg. One sister went to Penn State Wyomissing, now Penn State Berks. Another sister went to Penn State New Kensington, then on to Main Campus. My daughter went to Penn State Hazleton, then to Main Campus and my son went to Penn State Allentown, then to Main Campus. Two nephews and a niece went to Main Campus. A nephew's son attends Penn Tech.

Penn Tech is a loose name! "The Pennsylvania College of Technology" ha. It is still an affiliate. Our farm was 15 minutes from there and I stayed around to help out with that and got my first construction job right out of high school which lead me to my Civil/Survey future.
What Affiliate ?
How would you evaluate their program?

Since I worked full-time and went to school part-time I was able to see a change. When I first started it was all out of book and power-points. Then new staff and new technology we used a more hands on but not enough. I was learning more working for the construction company than what I was comprehending in some of the classes. I was able to file for Life Experience credits for a few of my classes so thankfully I did not have to take them.
There is a lot I would like to see done with that program. We didn't do any boundary surveys. We went to our farm as a class to look for the pins but we never did an actual survey of the property. Would have been nice to do that.
There is a heavy equipment program at Penn College that utilizes GPS machine control and they have a separate building a few miles away that they do work on and I always thought that we could go in and topo their work area, design even a swale or parking lot or SOMETHING and then go lay it out for construction and input the .tin into their GPS machine control. Something for experience.
I always thought I wouldn't mind teaching a night class there. My one buddy taught my Plane Surveying class as extra help and it was good to have someone fresh off of an actual job that is still doing the work for a living instead of just teaching it. More hands on and more to learn.
Have you heard anything about the program? I know enrollment hasn't been the best lately.
