I don't post all of pics from my jobs, because they all look the same.?ÿ Some tracks and equipment, lol.?ÿ Found some control set by a consultant, and then measured about half a mile of track.
New S7 less than a week old.?ÿ Little girl on a bicycle rode by on the sidewalk and bumped a leg
Few summers ago I had a conventional instrument setup in the middle of a lightly traveled street surrounded by cones.?ÿ I went out to help the rodman and I heard a scraping sound.?ÿ Kid on a skateboard came by crouched down and tried to go under the legs.?ÿ Of course he didn't make it, hit the legs and it came down.?ÿ I (and he) was super lucky that legs somehow just kicked out, and the tripod came straight down, legs splayed out, instrument was on tripod with a 0" HI.?ÿ He apologized saying he just barely bumped it.?ÿ I guess in the end everything was OK, but it was my only instrument at the time and the heart was beating fast!

Ooh - that hurts ...?ÿ
some years ago I had the same issue on and indoor job in a maintenance hall for busses. Insurance covered everything ... but a lot of paperwork!

Back in the 1990s while running the instrument in a very urban environment a man and woman approached my direction as I was setup on the sidewalk.?ÿ He was quite large and she was very petite, although a full grown woman.?ÿ And I am only 5' 7" tall.?ÿ Without missing a beat, she peeled off from being next to him and walked underneath the tripod legs, without touching a thing, and joined back up with him and continued walking along.?ÿ I must say I was very impressed as I checked the setup with nothing awry.

We had a Topcon instrument years ago when I first started surveying. That thing wouldn't carry an elevation across the room.
Anyway, one day, we were out setting reference and line stakes so someone could see how they wanted to set their house on their land. The Topcon was setting in the middle of a county road with cones all around it. Before long, my PC called me to come help and I reminded him that the gone would be out in the open, unguarded. He said, "it will only take a minute".
I took off down the road, grabbed the tape and low and behold, heard a car coming. He says, "get back to the gun!" I'm running down the road, trying to get to the gun when about 50' in front of me, the car clips one of the feet, spins it around, and bounces it off the road surface.
That's when we got a Leica Wild T2002 instrument. Upgrade!
