Survey Manager Position Summary

Direction Received: Employee receives supervision by the Survey Division Manager

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet internal and external client needs and deadlines
  • Excellent leadership and delegation skills
  • Prepare Survey budgets and proposals expediently and efficiently
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation of land survey projects including ALTA Surveys, boundary and topographic surveys, legal descriptions, engineering surveys, and construction layout
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Carlson Survey
  • Manage land surveying projects with a strong emphasis on scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Supervises all field operations, such as measurements, drawing of sketches, construction staking, property corner staking, and other data collection

  • Acts as the point of contact for clients in the field, and communicates the progress of a project to the Survey Division Manager and/or the engineer in charge
  • Provides guidance to technicians on the use of survey equipment, and assures that crew members follow standard procedures, troubleshooting problems, and communicating equipment issues with Survey Manager
  • Use field data and notes to draft projects to completion using CADD software
  • Operates GPS equipment and scanning equipment, and has knowledge of its capabilities
  • Manages daily downloading of data collectors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorƒ??s Degree Preferred
  • 5+ yearsƒ?? experience as a crew chief
  • 107 pilots license is a plus
  • Boundary/Cadastral Survey experience and GDOT Database Prep is a plus
  • Topographic Mapping Skills
  • Trimble Survey Equipment (Total Station and GPS)
  • Ability to perform calculations and work with computer programs
  • Work in Cartersville and travel to projects around Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Huntsville

Minimum Responsibilities:

  • Qualified candidate must have a valid driverƒ??s license and retain a clean motor vehicle report (MVR)
  • Ability to read, write and understand plans and direction given in English
  • Basic computer skills, ability to create and or edit Microsoft Suite applications
  • Possess the ability to stand on your feet for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours a day.
  • Possess the ability to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 12ƒ? or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Be able to wear and work using GPI standard PPE, i.e. hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles
