I got more responses than I imagined I would. Thanks for all the advice guys. Im going to keep at my game and see what I can come up with!
Where in Louisiana are you located?
Just south of Monroe.
Lousiana Delta Community College Has A Job For You
Located in Monroe, LA.
http://www.lctcs.edu/about/our-colleges/delta/
Adjunct faculty teaching Computer Information Systems. Minimum requirements is an AS.
I did not check on an IT position.
While working there take CADD 1210 or CADD 1215, should be at reduced cost.
If you walk into a survey office and say "I am looking for a job in the field, oh, and I can CAD draft to." you will get their attention.
It is a small step but can help you get to where you want to go.

Thanks for heads up....
Paul, it's funny you bring that up. I graduated from delta community in Monroe with my Associates in OST in '03 as I stated. Left with 8 months under my belt in Cisco AND have 14 months under my belt in CIS already.
Taking my advisors advice and graduating early I didn't complete CIS. She said she didn't see where it would benefit me, due to all my course with OST in sync with CIS. She said it's pretty much the same field and they were recognized as one.
I've often wondered if that was a mistake not sticking out my last semester in CIS, but as a single mom of 2 at the age of 22 or 23 I really needed to get into the work world.
Maybe my history could be beneficial, Thanks....
If You Know The Faculty, Definitely Stop In
Even if it is not that job, get a heads up on another job.
While visiting Delta take a look at the jobs available postings for the drafting program students. Any company happy having Delta grads would take them for other positions.
In fact an IT position might get you in the door at a large Engineering/Surveying firm, even part time. For instance pipeline surveying involves a lot of data management.
Something I did not get into before was GIS which involves gathering data from sources other than from field work mainly using computers. I could not easily find info on which LA colleges do GIS training.

I say go for it.
My daughter could turn a really good looking set of angles, much better than me, young eyes. A lot of that is automated now, the machine does it.
I worked with a rod woman for a while, she said the other Chiefs gave her grief, I just don't understand that. A good worker is a good worker.
