Actually it is slightly worse than that. Your computation was in avoirdupois ounces of 28.35 grams.

Precious metals and gems are weighed in troy ounces of 31.10 grams. So 14 mg is 1/2221 oz.

> Here is a little something I noticed on TV yesterday...A commercial for some kind of commerative gold coin...they kept saying that it contained a FULL 14 mg of GOLD! Well, that is 1/2025 of an ounce of gold, or less than $1 worth per coin (currently about $0.64). Why do they stress that? Because your average american is too STUPID to know that 14 mg is a very small amount.

There are all kinds of scams running via those gold dealers, particularly bogus "commemorative" coins like what you mention, or bait-and-switch scams that get people to switch from buying more reliable bullion coins where value is directly tied to weight and quality to buying highly overpriced numismatic coins. They apparently try to confuse buyers with bogus mumbo jumbo about 1933 law, claiming you need to buy the ones they are selling because the government can confiscate other types of gold coins - when that's not true. Goldline International was one gold company that Glenn Beck was actively hawking, they were nailed for it last year, there are a bunch of others doing the same on talk radio. Seems to be big business, that there are so many of them running rampant. Sucker born every day.

MLS....Fidler on the roof was on teli as rerun last night !

Thanks to you and others like your self for meaningful response.

I posted simply because today so much boundary work is GPS coordinates and TS work resulting in joins that are simply easily expressed as the bearing (HERE 0 TO 360 )AND DISTANCE (GROUND DISTANCE ON BOUNDARY PLANS) between two points.

As mentioned above we overnight produced plans with bearings and abandoned the tradition of showing angles. The public simply accepted that we would be orientating all surveys to (then) Australian Map Grid coordinate system. (Now Map Grid Of Australia) and that if they required angles they could compute them. Occasionally an architect will ring and ask for assistance in deducing the corner angles. Generally the client is more interested in the corner mark position or the relative position of the existing boundary occupation.
