I recently came across a small 12-page publication by USC&GS titled "Use of Coast and Geodetic Survey Data in the Surveys of Farms and Other Properties". The date of the publication is 1940.
In the publication, USC&GS is advocating that all surveyors use C&GS triangulation stations to tie in all GLO corners and property corners that they use in their surveys so that the monuments can be later put back at defined locations in the event that they become destroyed.
I know this has been advocated by professional societies for many years, but I didn't realize that C&GS had made an actual publication about it.
