I am currently using a Trimtalk 450s radio as radio and a repeater and it has not missed a beat.
Currently in Australia, there has been an overhaul of the frequencies distribution and subsequently, the frequencies have been condensed.
As a result of this, I have had to apply for a new frequency that is not programmed into the TT 450s.
Can someone please advise if there is a program available to create this frequency file and upload to the TT450s.
I understand that this originally was done at the 'Factory' but there is no more support which is understandably due to the age of the radio's.
I have been able to connect my PC to the radio via TT Setup but this only allows me to change channels and adjust the protocols/ baud rates.
Any assistance would be appreciated as there is still reasonable life left in these radios.
1. Connect power to TT450 radio and connect radio to PC using data cable.
2. Open ttsetup program and connect to radio
3. Once PC has communications with radio the following screen will appear.
4. Now press ctrl/shift and F5 together to enter terminal window
5. Type disp and hit enter to display all of the current settings.
6. Check radio type is set to type 3 by typing ra 3 and then hit enter.
7. Type chxx (xx being the channel number) to display the current setting for that particular channel. The channel numbers go up to 19. To change the setting of that particular channel eg channel 00, type ch00 37362 (enter) to change the frequency on channel 00 to 467.025Mhz. This is calculated by dividing the desired frequency by 12500. (ie 467025000Hz/12500=37362)
8. Set all unsed channels to the same as channel 01.
11. Check settings by typing disp again.
12. Exit.
I want to revive this post. I have a Trimtalk 450s too and like to do same settings like mentioned above, but i can not find software "ttsetup".
Does anybody still have the software TTSetup v1.31 or v1.21 or V3.1 and may some Firmware for the 450s?
Maybe the software i also called " TRIMTALK 450S Setup Utility (TTSETUP.EXE)"
I have TTSetup Versions 3.0 and 3.1 that I can send to you.
Please note that the Readme.txt file with Version 3.0 reads in part -
The program TTSETUP.EXE is designed to work with the TRIMTALK family of products
running F/W Version 2.00 or higher. TRIMTALK products that were purchased prior
to 1 June 1996 will require firmware upgrades to use this version of TTSETUP.
I also have my 2012 notes regarding using Version 3.1 with a Trimmark II radio modem, will include that.
No firmware here - we never sold a Trimtalk 450S radio modem.
Please send me your email address via a private message if you want these items.

I have an old Trimtalk 450s and struggle to find any information about it.
I would like to check, set the frequency for the radio modem but have no software.
Could you be able to send me ttsetup program ?

Hi Glenn,
Similar to original post here in Australia, keen to see if TTSETUP and your notes could help me to tackle my TRIMMARK3?
Thanks,
John
The Trimmark 3 is a completely different product. Please send me a private message describing what you need and I will see what we can do.

Glenn,
You are obviously the most knowledgeable on the trimtalk radios from what I have seen of other internet convos in forums and the like. I have a TrimTalk 900 that goes with my 4000 series receiver that I would like to get the frequencies reprogrammed on. Do you know if the ttsetup software works for that version of trimtalk radio? If so, could you also send those install files? I appreciate that this is an old thread so if its a pain, I do understand. Thank you, i appreciate any help you can provide.

Hello Tom -
When I became a Trimble dealer in 1996 the TrimTalk 900 (affectionately known as the TrimWhisper 900 due to limited range) was rapidly falling out of favor and we never sold a set of those.
The TrimTalk 900 used frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology, much like a WiFi router. As I recall, the user could select a set or sequence of unlicensed frequencies in the 900-MHz range using a knob on the TrimTalk 900. Both the base and rover(s) would need to have the same set/sequence selected.
To the best of my knowledge, there was no frequency programming other than what was done at the factory, and all TrimTalk 900s shipped with the same (unidentified) frequencies programmed.
Others here likely have much more experience with these than I do, hope they chime in if I have anything wrong.
As a side note, actress Hedy Lamarr is widely credited with conceiving the idea of FHSS during World War II.

Thanks Glenn, great info, I will try to just make it work with my whisper box.
I appreciate your experience and taking the time to reply.
