Is anyone using this feature of the R10s? I am finding it takes a few minutes to do the tilt sensor calibration then a couple more minutes to do the magnetometer calibration. Trimble manual recommends for best results to do this each time the battery is changed. Any comments if you are finding this frustrating or if you are leaving the calibrations for days and getting good compensated points. I find I often get warnings about the magnetic field when i measure.
I haven't had much luck with them. A lot of our work tends to be in areas with transmission lines and other sources of electromagnetic interference. And while calibrating the tilt sensors is easy, calibrating the magnetometers is a pain in the @**.
I had never heard the bit about calibrating every time you change the battery; at Dimensions they said recalibrate if you travel to an area where the earth's magnetic field would be significantly different than where the previous calibration was performed.
