It appears the power supply for the super charger got fried during some recent lightning activity.
The power indicator flashes bright, then dim, and there is a clicking noise that occurs with the same cycle.

When connected to the super charger, all the lights on the charger flash as well.

Has anybody found an alternative power supply that will work. The current supply is rated at 13.0V 4.6 amps output.
I am not against cutting the stupid cigarette lighter connection off.

Something like this would work if you cut off the lighter plug and terminated the wires with banana plugs - you'd just need to figure out which wire was which:

The cigarette lighter on that charger is what caused a fire in my office back in 1997. It can back out and force an arcing situation that can lead to fire. i would hard wire it if you still need it.

Yes, it is a poor design where the negative can still contact while the positive gets further and further away and has to arc.

Good information! I never use my 5600 but am always rotating my batteries through the charge cycle of the super charger to keep the batteries in best shape possible. This process has been going on for the last 10 years and I 've been worried the whole time that I might start my garage on fire. Now I really have something to be worried about :). Thanks, Jp

Norm, I trust your info. I have always enjoyed the pictures of your electrical work. Obviously top notch.
If something were to short out and cause a fire in your garage...the made assembled in china crap would be the first place to look.
