I have a lot of faith in the tripod, however I had a freak wind come up one day, blew the tripod and prism at the backsight over and would of taken the robot down too if I was standing there to grab it (about 300 feet away from the backsight) as it started to go. I usually don't weight the legs if I am right there, BUT often do weight unattended GNSS receiver setups. Exercise leg weights with velcro straps work real fine for this, 10 pounds at the base of each leg makes it less likely to blow down, but not impossible.

A friend and frequent poster here had an entire new robot blow over, I believe he said the job site potty next to it blew over too, sometimes things happen.

I am more worried about either two or four legged animals doing something than wind most of the time.
