Surveying with the spouse/significant udder

They have taken a churn for the worse instead of butter.

My wife is a lot of help for about half a day, then she starts telling me what to do or how to do it. That's when it is time to fire her again 😉

Years ago before I was licensed and we were dating, I made extra money mowing pastures in the evenings and weekends. I was mowing a 50 acre pasture in a creek bottom that had a wide soft spot across the middle. I had been mowing it several years and knew where it was. I could lift the mower a little and avoid the ruts from the previous pass and get thru it just fine, right up to the time that it just sunk.

I unhooked the mower and left it there until saturday. We got it out by chaining a 6" fence post in front of each wheel and drive it forward jumping the post and sinking again, about 4 feet each time. You have to be careful not to let the post come up in the seat with you. When we finally got to solid ground I used a 100 foot cable and several chains to drag the mower out. The sun had set and the full moon was coming up by the time we got the tractor loaded on the gooseneck trailer and headed out the gate.

I figured that if she was willing to help with that, she was a keeper. I asked her to marry me there at the gate on the hill.

James
