What are the implications if you mix up the Station line (which has the Station on the Survey line) with the actual boundary line, that is, show the Station line on the plan (which is away from the boundary line) on the boundary line itself? The reason for the survey was to subdivide a block from the parent title.
This is an actual case which led to the distance between the actual Station and the intersection with the boundary line being reflected elsewhere on the survey line as a balancing item.

It was actually done by someone else a long time ago and only recently came to light. The implication is only on the parent title as the subdivision was correctly made notwithstanding an arithmetic error by way of "balance item" outside the subdivision?
You still have to fix it, only now you can get paid to fix it.
For those original monuments found after decades of being set I always go with where the monument is located.
Any other situation takes following subdivision block restoration and occupation.

Actually there are no original monuments at all. It was a very long time ago.
Everything (calculations, distances, identification of markings, bearings, etc) shows that the subdivision was correctly made from the parent title and both lots were correctly reflected on the respective titles.
The “error”, which only came to light recently, was on the parent title itself arising from the rear title boundary and the Datum (with Station 1 being four feet above the rear title boundary) being shown on the one line (the rear title boundary) and therefore causing the confusion. All calculations were correctly made but the surveyor had forgotten to properly account for the datum in the recording of the data on the plan and showed this on the rear title boundary. The distance between the Datum and rear title boundary got taken to Stations (3) and (4) as a "balancing item".
So no adjustment is required, just the correct presentation on the subdivision plan?
