HiGuys, I have a problem and I don't know is this been happening to some other surveyors, my TDS Recon running SurvCe 2.62 can't stay connected to a Sokkia Set530r Total Station that I just got from my boss , it was working fine with a Leica Total Station I had before, but when I got this Sokkia I plugged it to TDS Recon and I try to set up Backsight then I can hear it shooting the laser but then a window pops up saying that it can't read the measurement. Then just locks up does not want to do nothing. Has this happened to anybody out there?
I have check the settings already, also other window has come out saying that it can't read port8

Try another cable if you have a spare

The cable that I used on the Set4 did not really connect to the Set 530R that well.

I understabd that you are trying to use a Leica cable. You will need to use a Sokkia cable. Cable connections are different.

I was given a cable connector with the total station , is a round connector on the sokkia side and the 9 pin connector on the data collector side, also I had a data collector with TDS Survey Pro and it work fine with the total station . Then I plug SurvCe and it does not want to read it.

Here's a link to Carlson's SurvCE setup info for your total station. Carlson Knowledge Base

Good Luck.

If it still doesn't work after going through Carlson's setup to get the comm settings correct, then I'd be looking at the cable. With Topcons the cables always go suddenly. Flawless on one setup and non-stop comm errors the next. I imagine that the cables for most brands suffer the same fate.
