How painful is going to be to replace the screen on my Leica Viva controller? It's developed a black spot in the lower right hand corner and it's become a little more than annoying.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? How much did it cost to fix? Would you have been better off just getting a new controller?
Thanks in advance for all and any advice.

I've had several screens replaced on DCs at a place in Dallas for a couple of hundred bucks...one fourth of what the Topcon repair depot wanted.?ÿ Originally they took care of "civilian" digital devices but I think they found a market in the surveying industry and are doing a bang-up business.
There's a post a month or so old where it was discussed. ??ÿ Good luck.

Thanks Mr. Cash; you're a gentleman and a scholar...
My experience with those guys was the polar opposite of Mr. Cash.
My advice is let your dealer handle it. The extra dollars will be well spent.
I have had to replace screens in 3 of our CS15's.?ÿ It is around $140 for the display and $150 for labor.?ÿ If you need to replace the "keypad", that is an entire "housing" and runs $450.?ÿ All in it is $897.20 to repair both.

That's not adding up for me.
Norm,
Don't forget the shop towels, disposal fees, re-initialization fees and tax.
They all add up.

They replaced a screen for me. It worked fine until it got rained on.

Exactly Jerry!?ÿ I didn't post the miscellaneous items that you get charged for, on most any type of repairs.
We have had the black dot happen to multiple viva controllers, Leica should have stepped up and fixed their problem, but I want to say we paid about 500 dollars to have it repaired at the Leica shop in Houston.
