Does any one use Topcon receivers to output the RINEX format file while conducting the static surveying ? What's the file name format you'll use ? It means at the same point, but different time phase, will you use the same file name or different name generated by the topcon receiver?

I do not have any new Topcon receivers, but believe all receivers are similar.

Typically 4 letters or numerals are set by the user for the point or the receiver. For instance my Ashtech receiver download files begin with a B (observation file designation) followed by the 4 letter/numeral designation, followed by A for the first file of the day, followed by the last 2 digits of the year, "dot" and the extension is the 3 numeral GPS day of year.

When converted to RINEX the file name gets re-aranged: 4 letter/numeral designation, 3 numeral day of year, numeral 1 for first file of the day, "dot", last 2 numbers of the year followed by "o" for observation file. If I have a more than 9 files, the last number in the day of year gets overwritten as part of the observation number.

There is a specific RINEX file name format used for CORS 1 hour files and for your OPUS and OPUS-RS submissions after they have been filtered through teqc. Instead of an observation number the eighth position in the file name is replaced with a letter, a to x to designate the hour (24 system) in which the first observation falls. You can see your file name and the renamed file in your OPUS reports.

When I edit a RINEX file I use the same a to x rename format. If I have 2 OPUS-RS files starting in the same hour, the second one gets a letter changed somewhere else in the file name to differentiate them. Once you get used to the convention it aids in keeping your files in order.

I have two Topcon Hiper Lite receivers. One is the base and one is the rover. My receivers generate the following file names:

Base Unit: base0521a.tps
Rover Unit: rover0521.tps

I convert the files to rinex format using Topcon Tools and it generates the following file names:

Base Unit: base141t.14N
base141t.14O

Rover Unit: rover141t.14N
rover141t.14O

The base/rover designation can be changed in the receiver using PCCDU, or TRUVIEW.

I hope this helps.
