Im tired of all the crap that goes with a 5600 and want to streamline. Will parani radios work with the 5600 and a TSC2 running Trimble Access? If so can you tell me the settings?

Thanks

That is really funny! go through the hassel to try to keep an 18 year old instrument from retirement. hopefully it is in jest. Seriously the radios have a board that actually controlls the radio transmission/reception. so no, there is no good replacement for the geo radios other than a geo radio. the instrument and controller have to go through power up sequence as well once all of the critira is met you have communication!.

😀

Very uninformed comments.
When trying to eliminate the Geo radios on the 5600, the parani adapters work extremely well.
The problem that most people have is they try to set up the paranis like they are radios, they are not.
When you connect to a 5600 with a data collector via CABLE the radios are not being utilized. The gun can be commanded to make any functions asked of it. The parani adapters are simply placed in line to break the cable, giving you 1000'+ of virtual cable to move about.
This is the same theory that most of the modern robotic guns that use long range Bluetooth.
The thought that an 18 year old robotic total station shouldn't be upgraded is preposterous. That gun was and still is a very accurate and reliable instrument.

I posted a step by step sequence video on YouTube. (Link purposely omitted for 3 post minimum rule).

I second that the Parani's and TSC2's will work together. There are many threads on this subject and this one is mine https://surveyorconnect.com/threads/parani-yet-another-thread.316742/ Just do a search and you will bring up many that came before me.

I'd like to see it. Can you email or message the link to me?

Thanks!

That is an impressive enclosure. Are you making any of those for sale?
Since switching over to paranis, my biggest complaint has been a suitable method to protect and hold them in place while in use.
You seem to have created an excellent solution. Nice work.

I don't want to be a salesman here, however, I do leave links to things that I print for anyone that wants one. I think the links were in that thread, just PM me if you have questions and I can provide the links.

My favorites are the printed instruments and this is a link to Nate Drummond's thread where he painted some https://surveyorconnect.com/threads/3-d-printed-wild-heerbrugg-t-3-from-norm-larson.256600/ They are very cool

Will parani radios work with the Trimble 5602 robotic and a Trimble CU running Trimble Survey Controller 12.5? If so can you tell me the settings, connections?

I don't see why it wouldn't, but, I haven't seen it done. Just maintain +, -, Tx and Rx and you can use a cheap ohm meter for that

I have two plug on the left side of the TCU holder, 12V and COM.
If I use this holder with battery, do I need to use the 12V plug? (I think not)
On the video the direct connection (Tx and Rx) go accross the big black battery to the instrument?

On the TCU 6 pin connector
What data must be measured +, -, Tx, Rx,?

Hey so I was scrolling through these Parani posts. The survey dept head where I work at was telling me that he believes they have a fully functional Trimble 5600 total station (not robotic) with an older TSC-2 that had Survey controller on it with a Trimble 606 tracking prism kit from a broken 5600 robot. Our question is that with a TSC-2 that has robotics enabled, would the basic 5600 total station be able to work like a robot with the two paranis? One on the data collector and the other at the gun?
