This involves the 1922 road plans mentioned in the post immediately below this one.

Those plans were hanging in the "basement" of the courthouse. Root cellar might be a more appropriate term. The designers were all vertically-challenged and probably were under five feet tall. The support beams for the main floor were no more than five feet above the floor. Some had piping running along their underside reducing the clearance a bit more.

As I removed the plans from their little metal hook hanging off a horizontal one-inch pipe and turned to go to the only spot with enough flat area to get most of a page to lay flat I nearly took off the top of my head. There is no longer any mat of hair there to provide any kind of cushioning effect. Meanwhile, my attempt to straighten my spine from a semi-crouch to a slightly-stooped position was immediately halted. Neither the vertabrae nor the associated muscles approved of the rapid change in acceleration.

Time to invite my buddy, Ben Gay, over for assistance.
