Any idea how many licensees in New South Wales will be divvying the swag from the settlement? I mean, if it's 1000 of them, then the average share will only be about Aus $2,500, right? That's not exactly winning the lottery (although the odds are better).
Be less than 1000 licensed surveyors now in NSW, then assume compensation would be proportional to number of plans lodged.

I've always considered sending in my invoice for use of survey plans. Retirement plan A.
Our surveys actually cost in region of $900+ to lodge with the Titles Office.
That is the fee they charge.
But then new titles are issued from the surveys with that fee.
But, and this is the crunch, they then on sell our surveys as that article indicates and to rub salt into the matter we have to pay to retrieve survey information so the merry go round can continue, and we can undertake the next survey for lodging with the Titles Office along with the prescribed fee.
So that is good news for the surveyors in NSW. Well done.

Last I heard, and this was about 8 years ago, is that there were only 600 registered surveyors in NSW, I'd be guessing that number is still dwindling aswell. This might attract a few more young surveyors to the profession, and encourage some graduates to pursue registration.
