I know that I'm using an old TS (Nivo 5c) but I do like the compactness of it. I use it to suplement the VRS surveys we conduct with the R10 and Trimble Access (2017.20) running on a TSC3. I'd now like to use the Nivo to store the?ÿ data shots directly into Trimble Access.

The issue is when connecting to the Nivo using a brand new cable supplied by Trimble (given up on Bluetooth). I can connect and conduct the station set up routine, but can't then change the measuring mode to reflectorless. When I press the total Station icon on the TSC3 it just takes me back to station setup.

I know the firmware and Spectra Precision Survey Pro on board software is somewhat old, but I'm loking to update the firmware on the TS to see if this adds this option to switch measuring modes. Can anyone help me find a download for the Nivo firmware as I've searched for days with no luck?

The TS is running Survey Pro 5.2 & the firmware is at 1.0.6.1?ÿ

Thanks
Ian

I suspect you will only get this reduced functionality.

On the Nivo, the MSR and MSR2 buttons are usually programmed for Prism and Reflectorless measurements. So - can you instigate a measurement from the instrument?

In the UK either SEP or South Surveying can sell you a Survey Pro upgrade. I suppose any firmware updates get done at the same time.

I don't think there is an equivalent of Trimble Access Installation Manager for Survey Pro.

Try manually changing the setting on the instrument and see if it is being used correctly by the collector.

Hey mate,

?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ Not sure if it's any different with the Nivo, but when using it with an S-series Trimble you press the prism icon and it will drop down with prism options, with reflectorless being one of them. I'd assume it's the same with this jigger. Let us know how you go.

The above is correct you hit the target icon, not the instrument icon. The instrument icon takes you into instrument functions with a Trimble robot, but that's not supported on the Nivo.

Why give up on Bluetooth, I have 20+ Nikon and Spectra guns running off it?

Thanks for your all your help, I'm working through your sugestions. If you see the screen pictures, I'm not getting the option to switch the type of reflector, only set up a new one.?ÿ

I had set up a new survey type in Trimble Access and picked Nikon as the option, it doesn't model version options.

Please keep the sugestions coming I'm sure we'll crack it.

Hmm DR target should be in that list by default I think?ÿ

It may be an issue with old and/or outdated firmware, on either side. DR target is there by default with our Nikon (new models) and Spectra Focus instruments. What Access version are you running?

From memory reflectorless is used to shoot reflective tape targets for Trimble instruments, so maybe try setting up a new prism using tape target properties.

It's been a while since I last used Access, but from memory when setting a new prism profile up you can designate using either IR or DR measurement routines, with DR being reflectorless. If this is possible give that a go, got nothing to lose.

Just another thought, the Nivo C series and Trimble M series are cast out of the same mold aren't they? Maybe the drivers for an M3 Trimble might work with the Nivo?

Hi Lee, we're using Trimble Access 2017. I'm suspecting it's old firmware / survey Pro issue as we can't connect via Bluetooth. The TS just won't have it!

If you are using a nivo with access we may then have to risk the upgrade to get it to work?ÿ?ÿ

What versions of TS software & firmware are you running with?

Ian

We're not running Nivo 5C, they're mostly Focus 6 but it's all the same thing. As far as the firmware in the guns it's whatever they came with. I agree with Zammo, try using Trimble M3 instead of Nikon.

For the Bluetooth you have to go into the instrument settings and tell it to send Nikon format data to the Bluetooth port, then pair it with the TSC3, then go to the Bluetooth settings on the TSC3 and tell it to use that gun as the conventional instrument.

Lee, and these Focus TS are connected to trimble access to capture the data??ÿ

THAT FIXED IT.... Set it up a Trimble M3/C5 and adjusted the Baud rate and it connected and now has the DR Option. Thanks Lee & Zammo.?ÿ

Thanks for all your help and input guys. With your assistance I've now got it working via cable and able to switch between DR & prism.
I followed the advice to configure it as a Trimble M3/C5 and I changed the Baud rate on the TS to match the TSC3 config of 4800 and it now has the all the reflector options.

Thanks for all your help.

Ian
