Just out is my new map that I have been working on for many years showing how the General Land Office surveys progressed across the state of Nebraska from 1855 to 1883. Then a few additional years to fill in the gaps. Limited to 260 numbered maps. Large 24"x36, 40-color, 100 lb. gloss paper.

I will be at the Surveyor's Rendezvous in a couple of weeks with a table at the Swap Meet.

Excellent looking map, Jerry. :good: I purchased some maps from our Texas GLO and wanted to frame them and hang them up. Apparently Deb doesn't like the idea of hanging survey maps on the wall for pictures.
Save me one. I'll pay for it and pick it up at the Rendezvous.
RJ, I know what you mean. I have four very large WWII paintings around the house on the main floor that don't go the best with anything else, but I enjoy them and friends notice them when they visit. Survey prints are in the basement.
Sounds good Rich. I am looking very forward to the Rendezvous! The GLO Progression Map really brings out some interesting features. One is a strip of townships going west dated 1869 where the Union Pacific Railroad was built. This shows the building of the railroad preceded the surveys since construction across Nebraska was in 1866. At least in 1869, they knew exactly which townships to survey to get the deeds right.
Another interesting fact is that Nebraska never missed a year between 1855-1883 to award GLO contracts, not even during the Civil War. The military and Indian Reservations also stick out due to filling those surveys in later.
