The last time I hiked to Dana Peak was in 2009, and at the time I didn't see any reason to go back. But this year I decided to see what being an old man really means, so my wife, our son and his girlfriend set out from Tioga Pass and assailed the mountain. What I learned is that making the hike at age 56 is a lot easier than at age 70, and takes at least half an hour less time. But the rewards are the same, and well worth the effort -- spectacular 360° views. Just don't look for me on the summit at age 80.
The station disk is in the same condition as described in my 2005 recovery note. I found RM1, but not RM2.
It was a wonderful day to be alive.
Looking west toward Tioga Pass.
Awesome! Congrats on the summit! Very well done. Thank you for the share!
Just don't look for me on the summit at age 80.
Wouldn't that be 84?
LOL
Glad you can still make it; I'm 66 and have a hard time going up stairs...

Reaching the summit of Mt. Sunflower is enough challenge for me. No problem getting a 360 view from there. About one-half mile or less to the west is the Colorado border.
Done several hikes with Tom Choate, the 'Old Goat'. He's very inspirational and incredibly knowledgeable of all things biology related. He's convinced me there's no expiration date on getting out and climbing stuff. He's also a the king of puns.
Mr. Frame,
If you look anything like your avatar, I say: Who cares if you lost a half hour?
As one on the downhill side of 70, I amaze myself when looking at my self at 56. My hair was still mostly dark.
How old is that avatar pic, anyway?
Keep it up, dude!

It's pretty old, at least 10 years. Not much dark hair left anymore. 🙁
