Nomee,

I'm not totally sure what you are asking so my answer may not hit the mark.?ÿ I'll try a shotgun approach to answering.

First blast, instrument setup.?ÿ You can set the instrument over a known point with good elevation, enter the HI and everything you shot will have good elevations but I'm sure you know that.?ÿ If you are unsure of height of the control stations but have a BM on site you can us the 'known backsight', 'set azimuth', or 'resection' method to establish azimuth and then re-setup using the 'transfer elevation' method and shot in one or more BMs.

Second blast, layout routines.?ÿ First, Viva does not come standard with all of its survey capabilities, you need to purchase license to utilize certain routines (although in Viva you might get a limited amount of time to use them on a trial basis).?ÿ All of the routines will provide with cut/fill info if the item being staked has an elevation.?ÿ Stakeout is the basic point layout routine that is included with Viva's basic license the rest require a license.?ÿ 'DTM Stakeout' returns a cut/fill at any point based on referenced DTM.?ÿ 'Reference Line' can be used to layout imported lines, arcs, polylines and XML alignments.?ÿ 'Roads' is a more complex version of 'Reference Line' that is geared heavily to road work.?ÿ All of these routines allow for the customization of the display to show what you want to see.?ÿ You export cut/fill reports for all and at least in the Captivate you can include the cutsheet info in the attributes of the stored layout shots.

Hope this helped
