Thanks, odd USB drives, aren't they? ?ÿHow do I access them for reading?

And thanks for the info on replacing the screen. ?ÿSeller says they will cover it, esp easy since it looks like a drop in job.

The seal on the assembly seemed perfectly intact, happy to say. ?ÿAt almost 71, I won't be spending much time in the rain, but the yellow Leica logo raincoat that came with it is downright cute.

You have a bad digitiser and the screen will need to be replaced. Buy a genuine Leica screen. I had a similar problem with one of the screens on my Leica TPS 1200 and it cost about $300 to replace it about 4 years back.

@ramses?ÿ
Thanks, did you DIY, buying the part, or did you have it done? ?ÿIt looks straightforward, one ribbon cable, assuming the whole assembly has to be replaced, that there is not a touch screen only replacement?

Would you be willing to share your parts/service source(s)?

There are a lot of Chinese based eBay sellers who appear to have the screen part only.

The little tab flips out to reveal the USB contacts.?ÿ Just slide them into the USB port, with the contacts facing the correct direction.

As for the seals, I would request a new one if the dealer is going to have you replace it.

@payneww1970quad?ÿ I purchased the screen from the local Leica service center. It took 5 minutes to change it. I had bad experiences with Chinese screens for data collectors purchased on ebay. None of them fit, or worked. Pay the extra $ and buy Leica.

Do all the ts12's have touchscreen? It looks almost identical to my tcrp1203+ and it definitely does not have touchscreen on it. It does have an extra set of function keys along the right side of the display though.

@350rocketmike?ÿ
It definitely does have a touch screen since there is a menu item for turning the Touch function on & off. ?ÿFormer owner confirmed to the dealer, also, but said he could not recall using it in the time leading up to his trade in. ?ÿ"I see" is the operative reaction to that'n, isn't it?

I and the seller are hitting a brick wall from Frau Leica of "cannot sell that part without your sending in the unit for evaluation and estimating...". ?ÿCan anyone tell me where to buy a Leica TS12 touch screen keyboard combo?

Allen Precision is as recalcitrant as Leica. ?ÿWon't even price the part over the phone. ?ÿIn fact, no one so far will even verify that the part is available.

Beginning to feel real anger and frustration. ?ÿBeginning to understand why my local surveyor recommended Topcon.

@payneww1970quad?ÿ

My personal experience with topcon hardware was not good (at least their newer stuff). Now having used topcon/Sokkia, Trimble and Leica, I would personally pick Leica every time (or geomax). But I agree that both Leica and Trimble do some criminal things (such as what you're dealing with for parts).?ÿ

@350rocketmike

I guess all of them will aggravate a certain % of their customers at any given time.

Seller made contact with a Leica authorized servicer (but in MI, requiring expensive shipping and delay) who offered to do the job for $400, and to check the machine out at the same time.

If I do not get a better/faster offer from the local (to us, Richmond VA area) shop when I finally hear from them, that's likely to be the place we go to. ?ÿSeller has repeated his offer to cover all costs of the work including shipping.

Evidently Ramses was able to buy the part from a service provider and put it on himself. ?ÿMaybe it was Moses....
