Was using my backup 48 when the low battery light came on for the ram card. Have never changed it out in the last 12 years. (its been in a drawer for a long time).
Any advice on how to take out the old battery? The schematic on the side of the card shows the cr2016 battery, but it is not clear on how I open the top of the card to pull it out. any suggestions?
Thanks

All ears, might need that info myself. Also what is lost, if anything, during the dead time while the battery is being changed?

One minor word of warning: the switch on the top edge of the card has nothing whatsoever to do with removing the battery clip although by its position one might assume that is what it is for.

The switch is to write-protect the card. It won't result in data loss if you move it. But if you move it to the other position, you won't be able to record any data onto the card.

If there is data on the card, you will want to download it first if at all possible. Also, as long as the HP48GX is on, the calculator batteries maintain the card memory. The battery on the card only maintains the card data when the calculator is off.

It is possible to change the battery without removing the card from the calculator. But be certain to do so with the calculator on if you are interested in retaining the memory on the card.
