Just replaced the carriage belt in my designjet 430 and I'm having a little trouble with the cutter working right. Since its a sheet fed machine does anyone know if I can remove the cutter and still have the plotter function properly?
Thanks for the help.

I didn't know that the cutter worked with sheet feed. My HP450C cutter only works with roll feed.

That's my point. Its there, but does it need to be? Time to experiment I guess.

I think that with the sheet feet turned on, the cutter should be turned off. When you can run so many different sizes of sheets through it, using the cutter would be wasteful.

I replaced the belt in my HP 430 about 8 months ago; I left out the cutter because it seemed to get in the way. Works fine as sheet feed without the cutter. Don Berry

Thanks Don, that's what I hoped to hear. I'll give it a try.

Sorry, my bad. I just looked in my printer and saw the cutter parked on the right hand side. I misremembered: i think I put it together without the cutter, and then found that the cutter acts as a spacer or return function of some sort. I'm sorry if I miss-directed you. Don Berry
