Hello Community,

Our Field Ranger hip chain finally measured it's last foot. I also have a "Chaining Buddy", although I prefer the Field Ranger (holds more string), and would like to purchase another. After an extensive search, I only find them in Canada (metric). So, I would like to know if anyone has one for sale (US feet) or does anyone want the 3 rolls I have left over? Also, what brands do you guys use and would you recommend them? (I know it is not a HUGE market, however, we all know having the right tool for the job makes our work that much more enjoyable!) Thanks!!

my hip chain went away long ago.... I should get another

If I remember correctly the line was "bio-degradable" or whatever the correct term is.
I was supposed to kinda dissolve and disappear in a short time even in the shade. The foresters liked that, no damned strings to trip on in the brush.
Is the line now sold of the same nature?

Hey Ross,

Yeah that is more like the Chaining Buddy, not the Field Ranger. But thank you.

Peter - YES! The thread is strong yet bio-degradable. Perfect for the one-man crew reconnaissance mission.

Thanks Ross. I have seen this one, along with others (sold in Canada) that take the small rolls. The Field Ranger (which is what I have and what I am looking for) uses a cone shaped roll that holds 3xs the string line and is very simple and sturdy. After about 15 years and dare I say thousands of miles, it has finally taken it's last walk.
