First Time Poster. I've been lurking awhile. The Pictures are of an Instrument my son sent to me while he was stationed in Oman. There are no markings on the instrument, other than a 4-digit Serial Number "1212". The instrument has an inverted image, and is graduated into 270 units of "I don't know what". It's a beautiful little instrument, a little tarnished, but I'm not putting any brass cleaner on it for fear of damaging the patina. Any help with any information about the instrument is appreciated.
Also posted are Pictures of some of my other "old stuff". The calculators are an HP45, HP67 and an HP71B. They all still work. The 2 TopCons are a GUPPY and a GTS-2. I learned to use the slide rules in college, but they were put on the shelf when the HP45 calculator came out in the early '70's. The Book, entitled Plane Surveying, by Raymond, was given to me by a dear friend. His father, Maxwell Oldt, attended Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, in 1931.
I know these Pictures are "dating" me. I'm an old "ph _ _ _". I've learned a lot by reading the Posts of fellow Surveyors. We are all family. Thanks.

It's basically a pricey paperweight. I think that Onyx International ( http://www.nauticalinstrument.com/theodolite.html ) of India may be the manufacturer, but you see them on ebay a lot (example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/9-Brass-Theodolite-Marine-Nautical-Survey-Instruments-/111700252732?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item1a01da983c&apos ;"> http://www.ebay.com/itm/9-Brass-Theodolite-Marine-Nautical-Survey-Instruments-/111700252732?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item1a01da983c).
