Hi all

I'm going to get right to it. I'm looking for a reliable repeater to use with our equipment. My company has Topcon Hyper pro GPS receivers with hyper GA ratio boards with version 1.6 firmware. We are experiencing some issues with using a pacific crest ADL Vantage repeater. It seems when using the repeater the signal will go in and out of fixed and autonomous. But when I don't use the repeater it stays fixed connecting straight to the base.

Has any one experienced the same type of problem with pacific crest using Topcon receivers?

What is a good repeater to use with my type of receivers?

What is your opinion on the Topcon RE-S1 repeater?

Any insight will help a lot.

Thanks,
Kyle

I use a RE-S1 repeater with Hiper Lite + receivers, no problems as long as it's within range, depending on topography.

Are you repeating on the same frequency or cross-channel (store and repeat) repeating?

If you are on the same frequency (in on 461.025 then out again on the same frequency) then depending on the correction format, there may not be enough time in one second to rebroadcast the correction.

You might try in on one channel, then out another. At least the repeater won't transmit over your base.

Also, use the most compact protocol supported (CMR+ or RTCM3 preferred over RTCM2) and if you are using Trans protocol, turn off FEC and Scrambling which will shorten the transmit time.

The RE-S1 you are asking about is for the 915+ radios and is not compatible with your converted HiPer Pro units because the modems in them are UHF.

The autonomous/fix condition you are seeing is often indicative of a battery that is not up to the task.

hi Mark

That was our first mistake when we set it up the first time. We have since gone back and reprogrammed the frequency configuration. I thought scrambling the signal is a way to help secure a connection quicker because its looking for the scrambled signal. is that not the case?

Thanks
Kyle

would that be the Battery in the repeater or GPS receiver?

Thanks

I didn't realize your Hipers were UHF. The RE-S1 definitely won't work for you.
