Is there any freeware out there for editing a rinex file besides teqc?
Not sure. TEQC isn't easy to use. We use an in-house designed tool.

Yeah I really don't have the time to study it and a text editor is to time consuming.
Thanks,
Ralph
How many files do you have? I am at the office right now doing some homework. If you want to email me your files, I can run them through and get them cleaned up and send them back to you. Email in my profile is good.

Thank You for the offer David, but I want to do some experimentation with this particular file. I've already re-observed it under ideal conditions. I just want to do some "ghetto science" (as opposed to Red-Neck science):-).
I really appreciate the offer though.

Well I will tell you, the program we use now began as a simple batch file that just strips out the cycle slips in the RINEX file. It has evolved to the point where one could actually call it a program now. Time consuming to begin with but worth it all the way. Now it will strip cycle slips, delete certain satellites, delete time periods, delete time periods of a certain satellite, and much more. Good luck.
I Use Decimate
It was written by NGS but I no longer see it as downloadable on their website.
As named it will decimate a file but will also trim it.
For just trimming I use WordPad.
Since I switched from dial up to DSL it is not worth my time to decimate these days.

I downloaded Decimate from somewhere, but it won't work on my computer.

Do You Have decimate_nt.exe ?
It is what I use in Windows XP.
I use nothing newer than XP.
I can email it.

With all the work we as surveyors have to do with texts files, IMHO it's a good idea for anyone to learn to use a robust text editor (such as textpad). I never liked textpad, instead going with NoteTab Pro. But they and others can all do pretty much the same thing.
A lot of the repetitive things we want to do in a text file can be handled by a simple regular expression, or a customized routine. As David mentioned, it starts out slow n the beginning but eventually you design an entire suite of routines that rival any vendors software.
Is it disturbing that I am thinking about writing my own Least Squares routine?
Do You Have decimate_nt.exe ?
I have something called decimate.exe, I try to open it and it gives me an error which states the program won't run on this version of windows, I have 7 on this computer and xp on my other laptops.
Why don't you send me a copy of yours?

Do You Have decimate_nt.exe ?
I use the WIN XP virtual PC on my WIN 7 64 PC for all those old utilities, haven't found any that won't run yet, I have CorpsCon and WILDsoft running that way.
I use UltraEdit for a text editor and it has a lot of power, might be worth looking at.

Thank You Shelby,
I can run the old stuff, in fact I have ACAD 2006 with Survcadd on Win7.
I will look into ultra edit.
Update: just downloaded UltraEdit and it did what I needed, thank you. I will have to add this to my arsenal.
Cheers

Not really since I've already done that using Mathcad and excel. I just don't have the time to delve into it right now.

Ultra Edit Question For Shelby ?
Does it mess up the Rinex format, or does it keep it intact?

Ultra Edit Question For Shelby ?
I'm not Shelby and I probably couldn't play him on TV, but I edited my file yesterday in Ultra edit and re-submitted with no problems.
