I have taken Ms Heidi every where for the last year or so, constantly teaching her the real way to survey. Teaching her the subtle Oz vernacular. Sadly she now swears like a bloody trooper, out drinks many Oz males and is now a general ratbag.
You will see in some pics that she has been in a few scraps, although her inflated ego is still pretty good. Don't tell any one but RADU has misplaced her pump...
Any rate I had promised if she shut up for a week and kept out of getting into scraps that I would taker her surveying to Coober Pedy which is 850 ks from Adelaide.
Well she sang " On the bloody road again....."
and looking side ways saw nothing to the horizon. No place for a dog as there was not one tree in sight!
Strangely while were traveling through the desert it rained! and rained!
So imagine Ms Heidi's comments when she went out into the field. She obviously had met that US surveyor who mouths off $%$*%Cvvb hu6(*^()*(^800())(*$%..// as that was all she could say. We call our electricity poles stobie poles after Mr Stobie who invented them. Two pieces of steel bolted together and filled with concrete . Perfect for wrapping cars around. The poles carry a single earth wire .
The bleeding showoff managed to sit herself on one of our permanent mark marker PM droppers which locate our permanent marks .
In the township the permanent marks all have covers so Ms Heidi wanted to be up close and hands on, albeit she has no hands...
This PM has a sleeve as the mark was set down a couple of feet below final level.
Any rate either Tiger Woods was in town or the wind blew 'cos when I turned around I discovered that she had been potted!
I thought Ms Heidi was extremely succinct when she commented on reading what was on the marker post..
She said in faultless OZ .. That her American survey colleagues would be extremely jealous not having all their PMs marked with instructions where to look....
I said Nothing......
Ms Heidi insisted in posing for the gun enthusiasts ....
The blue sign in front of the drive-in theatre screen points to the local rifle club headquarters...
Well Ms Heidi has gone to get some beauty sleep so she is ready for another dusty day as the mud is already turned to dust...
RADU
Well done Radu! I wonder how Michael is doing?
Deral would probably know.
Have a great week.
White-Eared Killer Rabbit
Did anyone else see the white-eared killer rabbit sneaking up on Heidi in the sixth pic?
COOBER PEDY WITH MS HEIDI...-Michael Update
Michael's health is holding steady on his meld score. I think he might be having some other stuff though but I don't see him as much anymore. I have to go down this week so I'll see if I can prompt him for an update.
The work schedule at the city is the heaviest that it's every been for the survey guys so they are really jumping through hoops trying to keep up with all of it.
Lawton is really booming. This is a picture from my morning run showing just one small part of a new subdivision in my neighborhood. 250 new homes in this part of Rolling Hills. (and yes this begs the question..Okay, so what part is rolling and where are the hills?) I dunno.
Not to dilute RADU's most excellent post but it sure was a nice sunrise on my morning run.

I've found that subdivision names seem to be of the natural features that they had to bulldoze in order to build it cheaply!
We can't have those rolling hills, the engineering costs will be monumental!!! but on the bright side, we now have a great name for the development!

It's better than "Sudden Valley" per Arrested Development.
Our "Rolling Hills" subdivision was done here in the early 1960's. And the name fits the terrain.
COOBER PEDY WITH MS HEIDI...-Michael Update
That is really pretty spot on in our town. Towering Oaks WAS a lovely little subdivision proposed along West Cache Creek.
None left now with nothing but fancy homes and concrete lined channels instead of the flowing brook that was lined with large ancient oak trees.
I did spot some caps in the new subdivision and several differed by nearly a foot in elevation for 700-800' so maybe that is hilly in Lawton.
I've told the story where I topo'ed a square mile with 40,000 shots and then ran the contours at one foot intervals and wound up with one line on the map. Yes, drainage design is a challenge in some parts of Lawton.
