Question for those with much more experience and knowledge. For class I was assigned with the task of collecting using NGS to determine a control monument is which I did and there just so happened that there was a monument on one of the jobsites the company has that I am interning for. With a base already set up on the job site we went out and set up the rover on this point and collected data over the monument for 15mins. Once back in the office and had the data in TBC we tried to convert the data into RINEX form to then put in to OPUS. However, the data continued to show up was an .spj file and would not allow for me to convert to .rnx. If any insight can be given as to why I am struggling with this matter it would be greatly appreciated.

You should ask your supervisor at the company you are interning for to provide you with the proper training.

Did you log static data, or did you just get an RTK observation?

What receiver are you running. Is that a construction rover.

It's been a number of years since I last used Trimble but the static log file extensions in Trimble are usually ".T04" or something of the sort, depending on the age of the software. ".spj" sounds more like a project file - ie/ the RTK vectors.

I have not used the construction rover in many years. When I was Trimble support there construction side would not log static data. I would contact the dealer and ask them if it is possible to turn it on and or how to get the correct file for static out. The file format you grabbed is what lead me to ask that question. As @Norman_Oklahoma states a T02 or T04 file. I usually had my crews set up to log that data to the receiver. Not to the controller. I have a hunch this is your issue.

If you have a way to see or connect inside the receiver to see if it logged the static data if you told it to then usually with Trimble you are looking for a format ex. Last 4 of serial #. 1234 then Julian/gps day 567 then session usually starts with 0. So 12345670.T02 or .T04 etc.

What data collector software? Should be a way to Bluetooth and download the static file from receiver or the file you grabbed from data collector is not correct one.

OK, if you have static data....you need to download the T02/T04 file from the receiver or the controller. Where it's stored depends on how your field software was set up, and I'm not familiar with Siteworks (thankfully).

Once you get the file on your PC....no need to convert to RINEX.

Submit through Trimble Online Processing Services. On the Survey tab in TBC (under GNSS group) or just go to the website manually.

After you do what @rover83 states make sure your height of rod from point to ARP antenna reference point is correct. You can look at any antenna or combination antenna / receiver on the NGS website. This will give you a description also gives you the NRP North Reference Point. These things you can start learning now by just taken the time to read up and ask questions. I have no idea if they cover this information in school anymore. It has been a while for me.

@OleManRiver , and @rover83 sounds like I could use you two as my professors. Will get back out the the field tomorrow to retrieve the receiver and collect the data from it; attempting to do what you all have said. Appreciate your guy's help greatly. Plan on me coming with more questions in the future.

Thanks again,

You better stick with @rover83 as a professor he is way ahead of me. Anyway I can ever help though don’t hesitate to ask. If I don’t know or can’t get the old brain to recall I can usually get you to the right person. I did support some the construction side and machine control side back when I was a Trimble Trainer. But man that has been a long time and many changes have taken place both hardware and software wise. Don’t know where you are geographically but PM me and I can pass off my contact info. Glad to help anyone trying to learn.
