When you use the scale command in civil 3d it scales a surface (or any object) in the x, y, and z direction. Is there a way to scale only in the x and y?

If The Surface Is A Block

You can insert it and scale X & Y different from Z. It is possible that doing that disables certain options down the road.

I've never had the need to scale a surface and can't think of a viable reason to do so. With that said, your probably best served by going back to the source data (coordinate values) and scaling them in excel.

Coordinate Values?

Coordinate Values can be scaled XY in Carlson Survey without scaling Z. I do it all the time with my GPS observations.

Coordinate Values?

Check out Sincpac for Civl 3D by Quux Software. It has a scale XY routine that works great among so many other wonderful little things that make Civil 3D bearable for the surveyor.

I am not affliated with Quux.

Also something else to consider. You should scale a Civil 3D surface. You should scale the entities that make up the surface, hence the surface will rebuild to represent the data that has been scaled.

Yes, Sincpac is worth it's weight in Gold! Can't live without it and the price is more than right.
