We are a civil3D company that migrated from LDD. After having been in the Civil3D realm for several years we are all relatively happy. As a surveyor I have a number of issues, the largest of which is the routine failure of the survey database. We tend to see problems when multiple fieldbooks are run in. Particularly where we have control points that have been adjusted and set in the database (survey network points). We then run in sideshot or topo fieldbooks. As we all know you have to massage these for bad prisms, bad linework, errant data etc. When we then rerun the edited fieldbook, we get errors that state the dtatabase doesn't know where the first occupation (or any subsequent occupation)is.
I have had it with reseller support and autocad support and am investigating Carlson to run on top of c3d. My question is, how do you process your fieldwork in Carlson? When you run in fieldbooks or rw5's does c3d treat them as cogo points or can you include them in a c3d database and network?
I envision processing our fieldwork, adjusting control etc in Carlson, then doing our drafting, surfaces etc in c3d.
Any and all info greatly appreciated.
p.s. Just recently discovered surveyorconnect after being on the old lsrp years ago as a regular. Good to see you all again.
Once we migrated to Civil3d we stopped importing fieldbooks. It seems like they are being phased out of efficient use within Civil3d. Once we figured out how to get the same result by merely importing .txt or .csv files we never looked back.
We edit our .raw files using software outside of cad and then merlely import properly setup .csv files. Works great.
