Update to critique of my software

It has been 2 weeks since I asked for a critique of QuickCogo, my stand alone software program. The first week I got a few well-meaning responses but nothing after that and no one actually reported on the evaluation program itself. One person came close after an apparent successful installation but gave up because of a correctible glitch in the final executable. My fault, not his. However, that told me something about what others out there might also be finding and reacting to. I have now addressed that on the evaluation page at the website. All I really need to know is that even 1 person can open the evaluation with the given information. My offer of giving the program to anyone interested still stands. You may review my original post still available on the forum. You may contact me personally at jim@quickcogo.net or go to my website?ÿ https://quickcogo.net

Please don't interrupt anything for this. Your work, family and Christmas come first. I am good with waiting until after the New Year and beyond if necessary and maybe by then I will have solved this on my own. I certainly am not the sharpest tack in the box but also not brain dead yet. Thanks to this forum for allowing me to be heard and all of you for what you have and will do to help. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Successful New Year!

As of yesterday (12/20), received an email from a new responder that he had successfully been able to open the evaluation version and said it was very helpful. He was the first but doesn't have to be the last and only.?ÿ?ÿ

Looking....

?ÿ

Also, get it up on GitHub.

The legitimacy of that platform will quell the fears of people downloading and worrying about malicious hacking etc.

25 years ago we had DOS programs such as CG survey (now Carlson) and others that work like your software. Some still use it. Back then this type of none graphic user interface (non-GUI) is all we had. So we forced ourselves to learn it and we loved it. Much better than a calculator. However, today's generation wants to see real-time graphics generated with the COGO. They can't seem to visualize the cogo in their head, it must be a nice sharp graphic drawn during cogo entry. This is why I feel there is less interest in your cogo software.

@leegreen Thank you for your valuable comments.?ÿ There are some useful plotting routines in QuickCogo and even one that plots as you enter data.?ÿ However, I see your point but I am too old now to make major revisions so I will have to go with what is already there.?ÿ My hope is that it will still satisfy a small part of the market. Many of my users are retirees who just want to stay in the game and not break the bank doing it. My immediate concern was whether or not those who visited the website were able to open the evaluation version.?ÿ That has now been answered by at least one brave soul but I wish I knew of a more streamlined installation process.

Incidentally, in my old neighborhood there was a Lee Green across the street.?ÿ Enjoy your holidays and stay safe.?ÿ Thanks again.

@jschuchert Mr. Schuchert, I use your COGO to run individual closures and find this particular function quite useful.
