I loaded the latest version of Access this morning and found that Trimble has answered one of my biggest complaints. Until now, selecting points to be translated/rotated involved individually checking each point to be transformed. Now it allows you to create a list of points to be transformed, with all the of list building methods that were previously available in stake out and other portions of Access.
Now if I can convince them to allow bearing entry in the QDD.MMSS format that every other DC and CAD package seem to understand I might just retain my sanity.

On either Access 2013 or 2014 there is an options tab at the bottom that will allow you to "select all" in translation.
I can give step by step Monday when I get my paws on the unit, but it's there.
I struggled with the azimuth thing for a while, even the salesman giggled when I complained, but he didn't tell me how to figure it out.
This is under SC 12.22 that I'm looking at now but access is similar. Under "files", "properties of current job", "units". Change azimuth format to quadrant bearings.
Once you are in a menu where you want to type in 89.4532, hit the arrow key immediately to the right of the box and a drop down menu will appear to select "NE, NW, etc.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that method but it just adds an unnecessary step. Also, in the last 2015 version (2015.22 ?) that functionality was broken. If you do much calculation in the field, entering bearings in the nw45.4545 format gets old quick.
The changes to the translate/rotate point selection methods is especially helpful to me because I do a lot of layout work where it is often necessary to translate/rotate a sub-set of the points in the job. Typically I'll be moving thirty or more points and it was tedious and time consuming to individually select each one. Much easier to use the TDS/Carlson/Topsurv method of specifying a range in the format 20-50,55-60.
I've only been using Access for a little over a year, but they've made significant strides in making their cogo more user friendly. A year ago I wouldn't have been comfortable allowing anyone but myself to use the cogo functions (especially trans/rotate). Now with the ability to use points to specify the rotation angle and being able to chose a range of points to trans/rotate I would trust a good careful crew chief to do calcs and trans/rotoates in the field.
I agree, it would also be handy to only export multiple ranges of points in a txt file.
There is no perfect set of gear, but we have only had one tsc3 screen go out in 3 years. No other hardware/firmware issues. People harp on "dealer service is key", but so far we haven't required it. Our Trimble just flat out works every day all the way back to the 5700 series years ago.
So far I am able to tolerate a lack of a few creature comforts to have something that works. No need to get on here and ask about firmware updates, "contacted abc at xyz company and he got it straight".
Another much needed addition to 2016.00 is the ability to choose how to deal with duplicate points when importing a Fixed Format text file. In the past duplicates would be ignored; you now have the option to Overwrite. This would have saved me some headaches when PMs sent crews CSV files that were XYZ instead of NEZ.
I can convert a bearing to an azimuth in my head quicker than finding all the right buttons to push.
