I am using a new laptop, and when I open drawings created on my old desktop and old laptop,, the new laptop is not "reading" the fonts for my title block correctly, and I am having to change the font types thru the change properties command.
It is an inconvenience. I have always been able to work seamlessly between the old desktop and the old laptop without incident.
I would like to "copy" my fonts from my desktop to my new laptop.
Having never done this, I tried copying the font that I used on the title block from the old computer to the new computer, and the title blocks were still looking incorrect.
Is there an easy way to make sure that I have the same fonts on the new computer?
Thanks in advance, and have a great weekend!
Here's a link to Microsoft's how-to on installing and removing fonts. Microsoft Link The link is for Vista but I checked and the process is the same in Win7; hopefully they didn't go crazy and change it in Win8.
I think you can just make note of the names of the missing fonts, search for them on the old computer, copy them to a thumb-drive, then run through the install process for each one on the new computer.
Thanks for the link.
Things have been pretty busy the past few months, thankfully. The tablet is very helpful. I have been using it quite frequently for to do lists, and taking pictures of plans in the job trailer, and plats in the courthouse. It is working very nicely.
Thanks again for helping me out with that. My wife has even confiscated it once or twice to watch netflix when the dvd player was acting up.
I hope you and your family are doing well. I may be in Knoxville in August. I may have to meet up with you for lunch. My wife has a meeting on a Saturday, and I will have some free time.
Take care, and thanks again,
Jimmy
It's easier than that. Simply use cut / paste from the old computer to the new computer. The folder is at:
C/Windows/Fonts
We do this for every computer we have so that every computer, regardless of the OS, has the same set of fonts.
You can copy all from the old computer and paste all to the new computer. That way you have all your old fonts plus any new ones that have come out.
I'll be in Charlotte, NC August 7th and 8th for OPUS training but otherwise I should be available. Glad to hear that you're getting some use out of the tablet.
If you're referring to acad fonts in your title block, they have to be in with the Acad fonts directory. It is just a matter of copying them from one computer to the other. That is what I always do with the few non-standard fonts that I use when upgrading cadd or computers.
I don't think it will work just to copy them into the windows font directory, but I am not positive about that.
I think this depends on the version of Acad you are using. Some keep their own and others reach out to Windows for fonts.
