It looks cool. But what I don't like about the touch or motion interfaces is when the computer recognizes something that you didn't intend as a command to the computer, and it does something weird, and you don't know what it did. In the case of the rocket engine design, I could imagine talking to a colleague, looking back at the screen and find it's blank. After a few minutes of fiddling to find out what happened, I might discover the computer has zoomed out so the rocket engine is 300 km away (or I have zoomed in to the scale of atoms).

I think I'd want some kind of on/off control so it only accepts motion commands when I want it to, and relies on keyboard & mouse the rest of the time.

Very impressive tech.

That stuff is great for building rocket engines. But is it useful for digital terrain modeling? Not so sure. Keyboard and mouse are simple/easy devices anyone can use. I model in 3D and do not find using either an issue or lacking in intuitiveness. I can do full rotations and cut cross sections in any direction as needed. Right now with 3D PDF's the rotation thing is easy.

I'll have to give that one some thought. :coffee:

Virtual motion tech is cool, but, I will keep my 3D mouse thank you. The one thing I saw in the movies that is a little hard for me to do today is the slicing planes and that would be awesome. Now the 3D viewing, that is available today and I now want to go find it. I knew about titanium printing, but, I did not know about inconel. I guess if titanium was not to spendy for you, we now have a more costly alternative, LOL. Joking aside, inconel will have me thinking of more things.
