We installed 6.0 on our RT3 tablet. Set collection work about 2 out of every 3 setups. The backsight reverse is off about 90 degrees on every third set up or so. Also the stake out function acts a little goofy.

So, who else upgraded to Carlson SurvPC 6.0?

How's it going for you?

What issues are you guys having??ÿ

Have you found a solution?

Interesting. I have SurCE 6.0 onboard my new robot. But not on my Surveyor 2. I am still running 5.3 on the DC and controlling the robot with that. Was considering upgrading DCs to take advantage of hybrid. But I think Iƒ??ll watch this thread awhile before doing so.?ÿ

Does one have to change the data collector to upgrade, or just load the software?

?ÿ

I?ÿ too am curious: have any on Beer Leg (still how I think of this forum) used SurvCE6? If so, any issues?

Thanks

Ken

We have had several issues. You do not need a new data collector if the one you had was running SurvPC 5.0. You can just upgrade the software.

Update

Carlson sent me a patch today. Carlson SurvPC 6.00.6. I installed it a few minutes ago and will get back to you all as soon as I know more.

Don't get too excited. Been there, done that.

We very recently have tried to convert from Survey Pro on a Ranger to Carlson SurvPC 6.0 on a tablet and it has been terrible so far.?ÿ Many connection issues and glitches which have been confirmed by the supplier.?ÿ We also received the patch and we will all be needing another one....

Any kind of offset shot renders it unusable.

I had high hopes for converting to the Carlson platform but so far it has proved to be a fiasco.?ÿ We have the option of reverting to Survey Pro but are trying not to jump ship too fast.?ÿ But our patience is wearing thin.

Good luck to all.

Would Carlson not let you run on an older version, till v6 is sorted?

So, y'all have become "paying beta-testers".?ÿ Rush the product to market, let the consumers find the bugs.

I suppose it's inevitable, given the range of devices and instruments supported by Carlson - but no less aggravating.

I usually don't upgrade until at least ver. X.2

Communication between tablet and Instrument has been terrible (bluetooth). Constantly having to exit program and start over.

The reconnect total station function never works.

Have spoken with Carlson Tech Support , but there fixes have not helped !

We also tried with the same results. So we gave up and just reverted to using Spectra Precision on a tablet instead.?ÿ We had hoped to make the move to Carlson but were sorely disappointed by the details of that endeavor.
