Just had a file overwrite experience from hell and learned the hard way my Surveyor 2 did not come w/an SD card installed from Carlson (however my Mini 2 bought @ the same time did). Anyways, I purchased a mini SD and installed it, but how do I go about mapping the Carlson program to start storing its data there instead of on the DC's internal memory?

Also any takers on how to recover a deleted file from a Surveyor 2? Would save me about 2 days of field work...might mail you a case of your favorite adult beverage if you were successful. Lol.

No idea on recovering your file. I do have this on backing up to an SD card (scanned from an igage manual on survce). Igage, please let me know if you want me to delete this image. Thx,

I've just looked at our DC (not a Surveyor 2) running SurvCE and there is a folder under Data called Backup and I see there is some sort of file there for every job we have done - not sure what that file is. I'm looking into it now.

Edit: Cancel that, it appears that it doesn't contain data:

Another edit: Here's a link to some advice on slowness of working to the SD card and also a backup procedure:

An update on this issue. I went and got 2 SD cards 1 for the mini I use and 1 for the Surveyor2 my crew uses. Mine has worked flawlessly, however the Surveyor2 is having some issues. The other day it froze up with a blank screen and would not reset. Upon removal of the SD card the collector went back to working like normal. Any ideas on what's causing this?
