I've persuaded my wife to go paperless, and it has been a disaster. We have essentially the same hardware and software but what is easy and simple in my office is horrid in her office and we have no idea why, other than her HP scan software is way too complicated and mine is simple . She scans an invoice, then the client's check, and tells it to save as a pdf with a simple name. Always, something somewhere adds 0001 to the file name. I don't know if HP is doing that, or Adobe, or Windows 10, but something sure is. Any ideas, anyone??ÿ

If she has a smartphone then no need for a scanner!!?ÿ I use Microsoft Office Lens but CamScanner is another and Adobe Scan another.

?ÿ

Take a photo press's button or two and you have a PDF on phone. Then save to cloud from phone or download to a PC with USB cable just like you would with photos. Lens seems to just create A4 size files but you can choose out of three quality settings and I've found the medium quality to be fine and like keeping file sizes down.

I found it. The HP scan software has a batch counter. I unchecked the box. Horrible software.

Horrible software.

That pretty much describes just about every piece of HP software I've ever come across.

The batch counter has been in the software for all the Brother all-in-ones and a Kinoca-Minolta I had.?ÿ I'm not sure it is exclusive to HP.?ÿ I don't recall the last time I had a HP printer, but I've used their plotters for decades.
