I decided to replace my 4-year old laptop, not because it does not work or has shown signs of failing. Just because I figured it would be easier to do it now while it still works AND about dozen of the keys have the markings worn off and it is difficult to remember where some of the symbols actually are.

So far, everything has transferred with no real problems, but I just spent a few hours tracking down why I can't decimate RINEX files with TEQC using the "-O.dec 30s" command line option. At first I thought it was the brand new copy of TEQC I had downloaded to the new PC...

The simple answer is 'the command line options don't work in Powershell'. There is a long answer and a long work around too, but I don't have time for it.

Here is the simple work around: "Right-click on the taskbar" then click on 'Taskbar settings':

JustTurnOff

Turn off the PowerShell. Problem solved.

I suppose if you never use TEQC there might not be a reason to turn it off...

?ÿ

While I am happy with Win 7 and also use teqc, I have no clue on what PowerShell is or how it could allegedly improve my life. Please enlighten me.

I can't help you with a reason why it might be better. I don't think it is, but if you read the background section [ here ] it might answer why.

I have windows 10 on my computer.?ÿ At the last job, WinTEQC would not run on the Windows 10 Computer.?ÿ I transferred to a different office and they gave me a computer just like the one I had at the last place.?ÿ I loaded WinTEQC on it and it ran fine.?ÿ It was just some little setting that 2 different IT guys used.?ÿ When I use TEQC, I run it from batch files.?ÿ I have a series of batch files that automate most of my TEQC processes.?ÿ I just have to edit things like the output file.
