I inserted a gif file into a cad drawing, it looks ok. I copy the dwg file to a pdf and the gif image looks terrable. What can I do to make the image look good?
Bob
Try and print it to a pdf as opposed to copying it (I don't even know how to do that).
Mine look fine when I print but mine are tif's and jpeg, not gif, so I don't know. PDF's are memory hogs so I can't think it's some stripping of the layers out.
You could use the free Irfanview and save it to a tiff. Tiff is good.
Kris, I guess I used the wrong term with copying, I did print the dwg to a pdf using PDF 995. I know I did this a while ago and the pdf looked the same as the dwg. Is there a way to change the gif file to a tif or a jpeg?

There is a freeware utility that I use called “Easy Graphic Converter” that I downloaded a couple of years ago. It will convert between image file formats with the exception of .pdf. I don't remember where I found it so you'll have to try google.
Wendell posted a link to a program that will convert .pdf to other formats, about a week ago.
I normally use .jpg files for insertion into ACAD because the are much smaller than .tif or gif. When I plot to .pdf, the clarity is the same as if I plotted directly from ACAD.
