I have run into this on quite a few occasions. I try and copy and paste a title block from paperspace in one drawing to paperspace in another and autocad says "invalid". does anyone know why this happens and how to work around it?

I don't have the answer to your question, but here's a different way to get there:

1) At the bottom of the Paperspace screen where the sheet tabs are located, right click on one of the existing sheet tabs and select From Template.

2) In the file window that opens, select the drawing that you're trying to copy the border from, then click Open

3) You will be prompted to select the layout to import if the drawing contains more than one.

If you've not already tried auditing the source drawing I'd start there. If that doesn't turn up anything then I would restart AutoCAD and maybe even reboot the computer. Lots of little quirks disappear after a restart of AutoCAD.

I believe I found the problem though I dont know why it causes a problem...the exterior border has a linetype CEDASHED which appears to cause the issue. I changed the lines to continuous and no problem..maybe an issue with custom linetypes.

:good:

If we all had dollar bills for all the things we can't explain about AutoCAD we could retire.
