> I need a driver or free software to print a plat in Carlson 2010 w/icad to a 17" x 22" PDF output. I currently use PrimoPDF, but it does not seem to go that big. Or do I need to plot my 17" x 22" into the corner of an 18" x 24" or 24" x 36" 'sheet' and hand cut the actual mylar output? Someone from Carlson suggested CutePDF, but I have not tinkered around with what I need to do at all. I'll spend part of tomorrow doing that. I just thought the fine people here may have had to deal with the same issue that I have just described.

I have used CutePDF, 995PDF and Adobe PDF.

In order I prefer :

Cute, 995 and then Adobe.

They all work well, just different.

THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY THAT REPLIED!!

Thank you! Thank you!

The CutePDF is the whiz-bang. I had a feeling that I was going to have to plot to a 18x24 (ARCH C) sheet and then trim, and that looks like what I'll be doing. But, this way I don't have to deal with any strange hidden settings or anything weird, this is just straight forward.

I just hope it scales out correctly when I send it to the print shop... They are very "technical drawing" based, so that will help.

Have a great day everybody!!

Carl

I'm not clear on why you're having to print 18"x24" and trim. Does the print shop not have 17"x22" paper stock or is it a software issue? For what it's worth, if the software has ANSI sizes defined, ANSI C is 17"x22".

On a side note...If you use textmask, wipeouts or other raster images in your drawings and your print shop uses OCE brand printers you might have problems. Raster images in pdf'ed CAD drawings tend to print as solid black blobs on OCE machines. Have the print shop print the pdf as "image" if you run into this.

Try downloading the free autocad DWG Truview program, it lets you print out nice PDF's in any size. They are also vector PDF's rather than the rasters generated by Carlson so files are much smaller, you can turn off layers, and the lines look sharp at any zoom level. It's also nice for converting Intellicad DWGs to the "official" Autocad version

I have no text masks, just straight linework.

Thanks again for the info, I'll "reprint" it tomorrow!

OK... I'll NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!! It changed all my fonts and spacings... I just about had a mental breakdown... I had to uninstall the DWG Truview (which is a blatant LIE), download 10 windows updates and then reboot the system just to see if it had permanently changed my text and fonts (THANKFULLY it hadn't).
