"Contractors are embracing the idea that machine control software—in concert with overall components of product management software—is bringing more accuracy and productivity to the job site."

(Just a quick note: The best is at the end of page 5 and all of page 6 😀 )

Here's A Switch, Dozers Putting In Stakes ?

“Having the surface and line work and knowing where they are at all times means they’re not waiting on surveyors to come out and stake things for them. I’ve seen dozer operators setting stakes for other dozer operators that didn’t have the machine control with the tip of his blade. He can keep his people going. He doesn’t have to call a surveyor and wait a day or two for them to come out and do some staking."

I guess that they could do that. What I have witnessed was a GPS dozer running around a fill area toping dumped piles to the correct elevation so a non-GPS dozer can fill inbetween them to get things close on sub-grade.

Just making the most from what equipment they have.

Actually.......most of these contractors are illegally practicing land surveying according to the Mass definition....unless they have a PLS on staff.
