Looking for input/comments from users that have switched from Microsurvey CAD to Carlson Survey. Are there aspects of MS that you find lacking in Carlson?
Tired of paying yearly maintenance and getting zero updates!
I do not use Microsurvey, but I took a long look at it awhile back. I chose to go with Carlson. In comparison, it's Microsurvey that lacks the features, not vice-versa. That's my take on it, but I am sure many will disagree. Everyone loves whatever software they are currently using because "it is the best for what I do".
Get a 30 day trial version and test it out for yourself. You will NOT be able to load it up and go 100% productive on us!! Thefe's a bit of a learing curve involved. Get with someone in your area that is using Carlson and have them walk you through it.
One of the keys to any successful modern software, particularly aimed at professional use (engineering, surveying) is just how seriously they treat bugs and make for a happy user experience.
From MicroSurvey they make great statements about bugs, service, power of software.
The real test lies in how this 'philosophy' pans out in reality.
Not being a Carlson follower, I do use SurveCE, but limited to GPS, so have no idea where they're at in these areas.
Also just how fluent and congruent the programs are.
Speaking PC here.
Some aspects of MicroSurvey are a dog's dinner in respect to that, and could benefit from a major overhaul and 'refurbish'.
It's these aspects of any decent software that catch my praise or opposite.
Features are important, vital but if it doesn't 'fall to hand' readily then it's an unnecessary and unwanted hurdle.
