A super simple drawing tool, totally free.
Runs on Linux, Mac, and Windows... I installed on Linux in just a few moments and got going a bit in just a few minutes... it runs sweet.
Osnaps, Layers, DXF or image out, draw by angle & distance, measure and lables too. Not a huge powerhouse but being opensource it should be gaining features rapidly.
I will try it on W7 later, great tool for the price.
LibreCAD... free software for Linux
Two more CAD programs I just found in the Pinguy forum...
Archimedes
Archimedes will be a Computer Aided Design (CAD) program developed side by side with architecture offices in order to fulfill all their needs. This way, we hope to develop software better suited for architects than the currently widely used AutoCAD.
and
SagCAD (also available in the Ubuntu Software Center)
Easy to use 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Modelling application with the following features:
2D CAD, Opening/Saving/Creating of files, Undo/Redo, Font use Qcad cxf Font, Cut/Copy/Paste, GY/DXF/IGES/NC output, SGY/DXF/NC input, ps(PostScript) file output, CAM, Ellipse and polyline
Both are simplistic drafting tools, but being Open Sourcethey can easily be enhanced and modified. Yes by YOU. not a big deal, not rocket silence.
I am installing them both just to see how they feel.
PS: Archimedes gets downloaded in a Tar Ball... What the Heck do you do with that?
Tar Balls explained... still working on it myself. Compiling things on Ubuntu the Easy Way
