Ok, I admit it...... I've been using Microsoft WORKS as my project database for Far Far too long.
Anybody have a suggestion or a quick fix to upgrade to a modern searchable way to interface with about 20 years worth of Excel data??
I've watched some interesting you tube videos on programming Excel to do what I want, but was hoping to not re invent the wheel.
thanks. AJ
Responding so I can follow this, but have you considered Microsoft Access? I think a person with the right knowledge can integrate the excel data into Access
My brother set up an Access Database for me as a project in one of his classes a few years back. It is set up so that instead of seeing an Excel type table, the data is entered through a form with certain fields having drop down lists (client names, city, state, zip codes) so that you don't have to re-type repetitive data. A separate form allows me to search by one or several fields simultaneously.
You'd need someone to set it up to match your current data fields and customize the interface for how you work. Might be worth checking with a local Community College for students capable of creating something like that without breaking your budget.
This series of videos is Exactly what I was looking for. posting in case it helps anyone else.

sorry, nevermind. my spam blocker was was hiding the video.
So after all that, i was thinking.. why not put all this into Google Earth.. But then they've gutted all the nice features that GE Pro used to have. So I think I'm going to put it all into QGIS and be done with it!

Just curious. Have you started this yet?
