I have been and remain a big proponent of IntelliCAD. Having said that, I do not care for the changes made to text editing in IntelliCAD 8.2.
A few of the things I've notice that I've lost since 8.1...
- No text editing window. Edits are done on in place on screen which can be difficult to see and manipulate
- With no text editing window, properties cannot be changed without using "properties box"
- No justified text in multiline text (right and left margins both justified)
- No more ASCII symbol entry using Alt+, such as alt+248 for degree symbol
- Must now type "J" and then "C" for centered dynamic text
- Cannot use perpendicular snap to select text orientation
There are probably other sacrifices as well, but this is a big step backward. The one improvement that I have seen is that dynamic text can now begin and end with a parenthesis. Earlier versions would clear the text when you attempted to use parenthesis. The only way to use parenthesis previously was to edit a line of text and add them after the fact.
Try changing the DTEXTED variable from 2 to 1 if that is possible in Intellicad.
That may at least solve your first complaint.

Thank you so much. The old editor also still has right/left justification also. Big help.

Thanks imaudigger! IntelliCAD uses the command DTEXTED but gives an on off option. Turning it on lets me edit in the window.
Old MTEXT editor also includes alt+ symbols, but I cannot use them in DTEXT.
Sounds like they are just mimicking the Autocad "improvements".
DTEXTED "on" uses the popup box. In the popup editor I can use alt+ symbols just not when typing in DTEXT.
Thanks for the quick replies that alleviates a lot of my pain.

I was having a terrible time editing text since it would disappear entirely while editing. This fixes that problem.
Thank you!
